Custom domain for dynDNS

Is it enough to change the nameserver for a domain to ns1.desec.io and ns2.desec.org to use for dynDNS? Or how should I do this right? Must it be a complete domain or is a subdomain enough and I can use this subdomain to create more subdomains under it? So I can still use ddclient like this:

protocol=dyndns2
ssl=yes
server=update.dedyn.io
login=
password=''
domain,sub1.domain,sub2.domain,…

They are on the same machine and i use Caddy to receive TLS certificates and forward them to the services I want.

Hi tehabe,

Thanks for your message, and welcome to deSEC! :slight_smile:

All you wrote sounds correct. (So, I’m not sure what your question really is - have you tried it?)

Stay secure,

Not yet. Since I want to delegate an entire domain to deSec I need my provider to change the name server for the domain to the deSec’s ones, and after that to add the DNSSEC stuff. Hopefully all goes well.

So I set up my domain with deSec, Artfiles has updated the domain for DNSSEC. Now I have to wait for deSec to affirm this, I still see the setup Instructions.

The setup instructions are always shown. We plan to make this better during the next few weeks by showing the detected delegation status, and perhaps add a recheck button.

Stay secure,
Peter
