Issue creating a new dedyn domain after deleting one

I created a domain, salmon.dedyn.io, and deleted it a few days later (yesterday) to choose a new one. Since then I have been unable to create a new one. I have tried quite a few lengthy ones and even a hex code. I always receive the error message: “This domain name conflicts with an existing domain, or is disallowed by policy.”

Is there some kind of cooldown period after deleting a domain before you can create a new one? Or any other kind of rule that isn’t being displayed?

Besides API rate limits, there is no cool down period. You should be able to create a new domain. Please share the domain name you’re having trouble with so we can look into it. If you’d prefer to share it privately, please reach out to deSEC support.

Thanks,
Nils

Thanks for your response. I ended up creating a new account with a different email and was able to get one of the dedyn domains that I had attempted to get with my previous account, but was denied. Happy to provide any info you need if you want to look into this further.

When adding a dynamic domain to an existing account, you need to add yoursubdomain.dedyn.io, not just yoursubdomain. You could add any other domain, not just subdomains of dedyn.io, that you want to host with Desec, so the full domain is needed in order to know what you’re adding. Trying to add just the subdomain name gets you the error message you quoted.
