Problems with domain

I created my subdomain but I can’t access it. It’s been more than 24 hours since it was created. Domain: www.datacoren8n.dedyn.io

Did you add any DNS records?

The domain datacoren8n.dedyn.io seems to exist:

$ dig +short datacoren8n.dedyn.io ns
ns2.desec.org.
ns1.desec.io.
$

But there don’t seem to be any interesting records for the subdomain www:

$ dig +short www.datacoren8n.dedyn.io a
$ dig +short www.datacoren8n.dedyn.io aaaa
$

Or for the domain itself:

$ dig +short datacoren8n.dedyn.io a
$ dig +short datacoren8n.dedyn.io aaaa
$

Also please note that deSEC provides DNS services only. No webserver or email, etc. So if by access you mean that you are expecting e.g. a webserver then you need to provide that yourself.

Hi juliosaopedro,

Thanks for your message, and welcome to deSEC! :slight_smile:

It appears that you entered the full domain in the subname field, but only the subdomain part (“www”) got there. Hope that helps!

I identified this by simply trying the following query:

$ dig +noall +answer www.datacoren8n.dedyn.io.dedyn.io
www.datacoren8n.dedyn.io.dedyn.io. 3600	IN CNAME io.dedyn.io.
io.dedyn.io.		3600	IN	A	192.168.1.40

Note that the CNAME target io.dedyn.io likely is also not what you want. (You probably want to put an A or AAAA record for subname “www”, or a CNAME that points to your full domain without subdomain.)

EDIT: The query I made obviously belongs to io.dedyn.io (which is not your domain). There is a wildcard CNAME configured there, which resulted in the above answer. None of this has anything to do with your domain, so please ignore the above. Apologies for the mistake!

Stay secure,
Peter
