rDNS - PTR with wildcards subdomains

If in the DNS is the subdomain directly specified, it should have precedence before the * sub-domain.

So added mail/.testdomain.net as the A/AAAA record (the ‘A mail IP’ entry).
And added this same address with the server to provide the PTR for rDNS.

Both dig -x and nslookup for IP return this mail/.testdomain.net

But I’m curious if this could anyhow interfere with the mail delivery?
If the * also exists.

Does anyone know?

The requirement is that the in-addr/ip6.arpa subdomain corresponding to the IP address from which the mail server connects to the other server has a PTR record which gives the name that the server uses in the SMTP HELO, and that this name resolves to that same IP address. As long as reverse, HELO and forward match, you shouldn’t have problems.
